Remus as the author of the excellent “Triumph Twins and Triples“.

But as it turns out, Remus is also responsible for many different books on motorcycles, motorcycle history, engines, sheet metal and more.

If I had to guess though, I’d say Remus has a definite soft spot in his heart for Triumphs.

His love for the marque is apparent in his books and especially in his photographs, which are outstanding in their composition, exposure and subject matter in his newest book, Triumph Motorcycles: From Speed Twin to Bonneville.

There’s a little bit of Speed Twin here and a lot of Bonneville, and the beautiful photographs clearly represent just about every iteration of the Bonneville from beginning to end. This is a smallish coffee table book, and although the photos are certainly the focus of the subject matter, the concise text also explains all of the differences in the various model years and options.

The book is printed in China using a large-ish sans serif font, which on one hand is a welcome relief for those of us who have trouble seeing the tiny print that seems to be the standard for most hard copy lately. On the other hand, the unembellished font seems slightly out of place for this sort of book, and rather cheapens the experience slightly.

For anyone planning a Triumph restoration, the very sharp and well exposed photographs in this book show multiple views of all of the different parts and assemblies on a wide variety of different Triumph models.

I’m not sure where Remus found the varied examples of the perfectly restored bikes for the book, but they’re surely the best I’ve ever seen and it’s hard to pick a favorite, they’re all to lust after!

A significant amount of time and planning must have gone into the composition and layout for each photograph, which makes them both beautiful and an excellent resource for historians.

Triumph Motorcycles: From Speed Twin to Bonneville is one of the best books of its type and a must-have for all Triumph lovers.
