SCHUBERTH E1 Adventure Preview

A SCHUBERTH Flip-up Dual-Sport Helmet

The SCHUBERTH E1 “Adventure” dual-sport flip-up helmet was announced at the 2015 AIMExpo (reports)in Orlando, Florida.

The E1 is based on the SCHUBERTH C3 (review) with the addition of a new chin venting system, top vent and peak to create the helmet.

But if you didn’t know there’s a C3 hiding under that peak, you’d think the E1 was an all new helmet type in the SCHUBERTH lineup.

Using the popular C3 as the basis for the E1 means that the E1 will have the same internal shape. That also means the E1 will be available in just two shell sizes for the size range of XS to 3XL.

The E1 is not the first flip-up dual-sport helmet made; that honor goes to the Caberg Tourmax (review), first released in 2013.

SCHUBERTH had several E1 prototypes on display at the show. Prototypes in this case meant that the chin vent assembly, top vent and peak were 3D printed, but in a surprise, the 3D printing gives the parts a nice sort of matte fuzzy feel.

SCHUBERTH said many people have commented on the appealing texture of the 3D printed parts, so they may try to duplicate that in the actual molds once the helmet goes into production.

While the E1 graphics are fairly radical for Schuberth, the jury is out on the big “E1” logo on the side. My suggestion would be to tone that down before production.

The helmet has an interesting dual-channel chin vent; the top opening directs air through the top of the chin bar, while the bottom vent directs air on to the rider’s face. A removable foam filter is included.

The peak has an interesting design; it can be set to one of 3 positions and it stays in that position when the rotating flip-up visor is moved.

The SCHUBERTH E1 Adventure will be released in Spring 2016 with a list price of (gulp!) $829.00 for solid colors and $889.00 for graphics. Sizes range from XS to 3XL in two different shell sizes. We’ll have one for a review just as soon as the helmets are ready to go.

SCHUBERTH E1 Details

(October 15, 2015, SCHUBERTH E1 press release edited by webBikeWorld.com)

SCHUBERTH North America is proud to introduce the E1 Adventure helmet, marking the first SCHUBERTH helmet designed specifically for enduro and adventure motorcyclists.

The SCHUBERTH E1 offers the comfort, flexibility and safety of a modern flip-up helmet while meeting the requirements for off-road use.

The E1 offers adventure riders a premium modular helmet designed to perform when the rider leaves the pavement.

The SCHUBERTH design team developed the E1 in Schuberth’s proprietary aero-acoustics lab, resulting in a helmet optimized for both aerodynamic and aero-acoustic performance. S

The SCHUBERTH Anti-Roll-Off System keeps the helmet in place, while the removable and washable inner lining allows riders to keep their helmet clean in between adventures.

One of the most innovative features is the fully articulating peak visor, which can be adjusted to three different positions independently from the face shield and chin bar.

The E1 can be worn with both the face shield and peak in place, or riders may opt to easily remove either piece for the ride.

The E1 also features a closable air vent in the chin bar to ensure that riders get enough air as the ride intensifies, while a removable and washable filter will help clean the air in dirty and dusty conditions.

The E1 includes a built-in antenna for the SCHUBERTH SRC intercom system (review). Utilizing the latest in Cardo communication technology, the Bluetooth SRC-System serves as an intercom with other riders and can connect to a GPS unit, MP3 player or mobile phone for navigation, music listening or phone calls.

The fiberglass shell will be available in 5 solid colors and 2 graphics with 5 colorways for a total of 10 helmet options.

SCHUBERTH also offers a variety of tinted face shields, which are easily removed and replaced using the SCHUBERTH quick change system.
