Our Opinions
The Turtle Wax brand has been around since the 1940’s, and they claim to be “the number one selling brand of car care products in the world with sales in 90 countries.”
Apparently, Turtle Wax ICE was designed to be a high-tech polish that would spice up the Turtle Wax product line, which was getting a bit long in the tooth.
The concept is good: a clear liquid polish that leaves no white powdery residue. Perfect for motorcycles, right?
The polish is easy to apply, and a little goes a long, long way. It’s cool to be able to apply a clear liquid to motorcycle paint (it can also be used on plastic and rubber trim) and not have to worry about that icky white powder showing in all those hard-to-reach spots.
But the problem is that Turtle Wax ICE doesn’t really seem to us to do leave much of a finish. Sure, the paint looks shiny — but it would look the same with just about any polish right after it was applied and buffed on a clean surface.
Turtle Wax ICE doesn’t really seem to leave any type of noticeable coating on the paint — it doesn’t have that smooth “waxy” feeling that you get after a coat of good wax or polish. And it also doesn’t seem to leave much of a long-lasting protective finish, either. In fact, it just doesn’t seem to do much at all, we don’t notice a difference between a freshly washed painted surface and the same surface post-treatment with Turtle Wax ICE.
We’re not impressed with Turtle Wax ICE; in our opinion, it certainly doesn’t come close to some of the best motorcycle waxes or polishes that we’ve tried and our feeling is that there are even some “quick” spray and shine polishes that are better. It’s too bad, because the concept of having a clear liquid that leaves no residue is sound, but in practice, the product just doesn’t impress.
