2020 Triumph Tiger 900

Another Awesome Adventure Bike

The 2020 Triumph Tiger 900 is, in fact, six different motorcycles. There’s the Tiger 900, Tiger 900 GT, Tiger 900 GT Low, Tiger 900 GT Pro, Tiger 900 Rally, and Tiger 900 Rally Pro. Basically, the company has a variation for every little sub-segment of the adventure touring market. The GT ones are more touring bikes and the Rally ones are more off-roaders.

The base Tiger 900 is the basis for all of the other variants. It’s an off-road-ready motorcycle with a new LED dual headlight cluster, a new fairing, a narrower overall design, and a further-back handlebar that should be more comfortable and easier to reach. The gas tank is 5.28 gallons, which is an increase from the previous model and the seat height is 31.88 inches and is adjustable to up to 32.67 inches.

The bike also gets a new lightweight modular steel trellis frame with a separate subframe. The suspension is Marzocchi and offers 7-inches of travel up front and 7.36 inches in the rear. That’s on the base model. The GT variants get adjustable compression and rebound. The Rally and Rally Pro get Showa suspension offering 9.4 inches at the front and 9 inches at the rear.

Wheels for the regular 900 and 900 GTs are 19 inches at the front and 17 at the rear. The Rally versions get a 21-inch wheel at the front. The bike is fitted with Brembo Stylema four-piston calipers with 320mm discs at the front wheel and single-piston calipers at the rear with a 255 mm disc. The bike also comes with ABS. GT and Rally versions get the same setup, but they also get cornering ABS.

The engine in all of the bikes is an 888cc triple. The engine puts out 94 hp and 64 lb-ft of torque. There are also ride modes for the bikes. The base model gets Rain and Road. The GT and Rally get those modes and Sport and Off-Road. The GT Pro adds a Rider Configurable mode. The Rally Pro adds a Off-Road Pro mode.

The Tiger 900 costs $12,500. The pricing for the others has not been announced, but you can bet they’ll be incremental jumps up the pricing ladder.
