The Italjet Dragster Looks Awesome

A Scooter You Really Want

Most motorcycle guys in the U.S. kind of look down their noses at scooters. I’m not one of them. I love the things. Every one of them from the cheapest 50cc Chinese-made hunk of junk to the beautiful pieces of art from Vespa. Anyway, I think there’s one scooter that everyone can agree is a cool-looking machine. It is the Italjet Dragster. The Italian company revealed its Dragster scooter at EICMA this year.

The new Dragster comes in 125cc, 150cc, and 200cc displacements. The highest displacement version makes 20 hp. The engine is liquid-cooled and has a CVT to get that power to the rear wheel. The bike also features Brembo brakes, Pirelli tires, and a curb weight of 247 pounds.

Unfortunately, this scooter won’t make it to the U.S., but that doesn’t keep me from wanting one of these. It would sit nicely in my shed and be the perfect bike for zooming around town or over to a coffee shop. I know there are several other bikes that can do these same duties well, but few look as cool or as likely as capable of putting a smile on your face as the Dragster. It’s a handsome bike that has a kind of industrial, killer-robot look to it.

A touring size? If you live in Europe and aren’t getting a Honda Xadv – get your temperature checked. This Dragster is all about city zooming. But I’ll definitely give you props if you load one up and hit the western alps. Have at it bro! Ride fast and take chances.

I’ve always dug the Italjet. They sold these in the states back in 1999. I drug my newlywed wife through NYC looking for the dealer in Manhattan – it was on our honeymoon. Found the dealer – but no parking (we had our dog with us) for blocks and blocks. Anyway….

I’m so done hearing about really cool bikes that we can’t get in the states. Shit here is boring. Thank goodness we’re getting the V85 TT, a great nose thumbing to all those GS’s and Africa Twins out there.

Wonder if we could import it and register in the US, and if so, what the price might be. I think it’s sexy as Hell. I’ve often wondered what a scooter from Ducati or MV Agusta would look like if they made one, and now I have my answer!
