Hands On Motorcycle Clothing Reviews for Trusted for Over 20 Years.

Every rider is different and every use case is different so when it comes to finding the perfect motorcycle clothing the goal isn’t trying to find the “best”, it is finding the “right” piece of clothing for your needs. The bad news of course is that with all the options, styles, materials and so on available when shopping for any motorcycle clothing is mind boggling. At webBikeworld we’ve been reviewing motorcycle gear for over twenty years so we know a thing or two about getting it right. Read our reviews on the best gear.

Our review process for testing motorcycle clothing normally takes four to six weeks. We will wear a jacket, pants, helmet or gloves on long rides and short rides (about 10 hours of riding). Back in our testing facility (our garage) we will inspect the construction, materials as well as all the things that matter from a practicality standpoint.

REV’IT! Memphis H20: World’s First Waterproof Jeans? The REV’IT! Memphis H20 jeans have a Hydratex 3L (3 Layer) waterproof liner bonded to the inside of the denim. A full-length internal mesh liner adds comfort on the inside. But the Memphis H20 jeans do not have a full-length abrasion-resistant Kevlar or other type of lining. The …

Versatile Pants Are A Match for Any Jacket The new Fieldsheer Adventure Tour jacket (review) has a pair of matching pants. No surprise there! The pants are made from the same Fieldsheer-developed 500 denier Maxtena-Pro outer shell — “heavy duty” stuff. With a different approach and to simplify the on/off process, the Exkin Air insulating liner is …

REV’IT! Flatbush Jacket: Urban Street Style With Protection The REV’IT! Flatbush jacket is a modern take on a motorcycle classic. It is made from a soft and supple full grain cowhide with an “understated simple” design theme. But underneath that unadorned exterior lies SAS-Tech shoulder and elbow “armor” for serious protection. The Flatbush jacket can also fit …

Tucano Urbano “Calamaro” Gloves Review It is seldom the season for mesh gloves in London; mine get so little wear I’ve been using the same ones since 2005. But occasionally it is time for something a little lighter, so I gave the Tucano Urbano Calamaro a try. With their leather palm and light textile upper, they looked …

Racer “Queens” Women’s Leather Motorcycle Gloves The Racer Queens gloves are made from black goat leather with a light pink liner. The design is feminine with functionality at its heart. Right from the package, the gloves fit well and have remained comfortable. While not without some shortfalls, the Queens gloves represent good value, like most …

Dainese “Veleta” Gore-Tex X-TRAFIT Waterproof Gloves The Dainese Veleta gloves are an interesting new design for 2014. The design is a successful mashup of features cribbed from motocross, adventure-touring and street touring gloves. The Veleta gloves passed the webBikeWorld “Bucket Test” with flying colors; that is, they’re completely waterproof, due to the Gore-Tex 3-layer X-TRAFIT …

Rukka “Armaxion” Jacket Review The Rukka Armaxion jacket is sort of a variant of the ultra-spec Rukka Armas jacket (review). The Armaxion jacket differs in that it doesn’t have the Superfabric or the Gore Lockout closure system (report) of the Armas. It also has a slightly different cut or styling than the Armas; the former is more of …

X-Vent Pants for Winter The REV’IT! X-vent pants have a warm removable quilted thermal lining. It attaches with zippers and the pants lining is waterproof. Vents are located on the thighs, although they don’t flow much air. The pants include Knox CE-approved protectors in the knees and soft foam padding for the hips. The pants …

Mesh Over Pants for Hot Weather Riding The Pilot Omni over-pants are available in the Omni Air mesh version described in this review or as a solid textile version. Both are designed as over-pants, so they can be worn alone or over jeans or other street pants. The Omni Air mesh over-pants have a thick-feeling …

Rukka “AiRider” Jacket Review The Rukka AiRider jacket is new for 2014 and it has the same Cordura AFT mesh shell of the type used in the Rukka AirMan jacket (review). The AiRider is a shorter sportbike style jacket that forgoes the Gore-Tex removable liner and the Outlast phase-change technology of the AirMan but includes the D3O …

Speed & Strength “Rage With the Machine” Gloves This is a webBikeWorld Owner Report by J.L.B. on the Speed and Strength “Rage With the Machine” motorcycle gloves.Speed & Strength seems to be everywhere these days with a wide range of reasonably priced motorcycle clothing and helmets. The Rage with the Machine gloves are third from the …

Rukka “AirMan” Jacket Review The Rukka AirMan jacket is an update of the Rukka Airway jacket, reviewed exactly one year ago on webBikeWorld. The Airway was a short length jacket but the AirMan is now a longer adventure-touring design. There’s really no comparison between the two however, because the AirMan has many new features and a completely …

M-Tech T-Sport Leather Jacket The M-Tech T-Sport leather jacket is a modern take on the classic leather motorcycle jacket. It has a few hidden technology updates, including the water and stain repelling “Mastrotech” leather treatment. The other modern addition is the “Refraction” technology, which reduces UV light absorption and is claimed to reduce the temperatures of …

AGV Sport “Mercury” Motorcycle Gloves Review The AGV Sport Mercury gloves are a lightweight summer choice with barely-there protection. But, but…at a nearly giveaway price and with probably the best reflectivity you’ll ever find on any pair of motorcycle gloves…and a pretty darn nice main knuckle protector, well, why not? If they had more finger …

M-Tech Adventure Jacket The M-Tech Adventure is the company’s top-of-the-line 3/4-length textile jacket. The Adventure jacket has been popular with motorcyclists around the world and it’s now available in the U.S.A. It’s claimed fully waterproof and it has proven itself in our harsh winter and spring weather. The tough-feeling 500 denier Cordura outer shell is also treated with …

We have reviewed dozens and dozens of clothing brands over the years at WBW so we know a thing or two about which brands our editors love. We also see the analytics on the site too so we know which brands get the most views and attention from our readers. Between consumer interest, our editor’s opinions and generally who we think is really innovating in the clothing and gear space, here are the most popular brands at the moment.

Alpinestars

Alpinestars

alpinestars logo

Alpinestars makes technical, high performance protective gear for Motorcycle, Motocross, and Auto Racing and more recently for action sports like Adventure/Touring, Mountain Biking and Cycling.

It all started in 1963 when a leather craftsman by the name of Sante Mazzarolo began creating the first Alpinestars branded products. At that time a new sport called motocross was establishing itself.

Alpinestars makes a massive range of motorcycle clothing. There’s a reason Alpinestars tops our list in a lot of categories and their R&D and constant innovation plus reasonable prices and great quality are hard to beat.

Joe Rocket Jacket

Joe Rocket is affordable and great quality for the price point. Their clothing is a fraction of what you can pay for the same look and feel elsewhere.

While there are a lot of copycat brands out there you can’t say that about Joe Rocket with their signature cool looking clothing and gear. We love their leather classic jackets the most, perfect for the cafe racer in you.

Dainese

“Dainese uses innovation and new technology to create protective gear and clothing for motorcycle, bike, equestrian and winter sports” according to the Dainese official website.

Started in 1972 the team there makes not only motorcycle boots but all types of other protective gear (back protectors, gloves, airbags and more). A very focused R&D outfit, Dainese was the first to develop a super cool instant-deployment airbag suit and jacket system – it basically blows up like an inflatable balloon to protect you in a crash.

Combine the basics and amazing looks and it is hard to look further than Dainese when buying quality gear.

Makers of Helmets, Jackets, Gloves, Pants, Footwear the team at Icon is one of the largest street based protective motorcycle apparel brands in the world.

Founded in 2002, ICON exploded onto the scene with unabashed attitude – maybe that’s why we love them so much. They focus on the modern performance rider who rides in the real world of messed up roads. Their core mission is “protecting riders whenever and however we can, knowing that reckoning day is coming for all of us”.

With a broad set of colors, styles, fits, and functionalities, Icon are among the most popular brands in the business. The relative upstart (in motorcycle gear years) knows how to create cool looking gear.
