Icon Announces the Airframe Statistic
April 24, 2014 (Press release edited by webBikeWorld.com) – The Icon Airframe Statistic (photos below) is a radical design that lists the percentage of impact areas on a full-face helmet. The numbers apparently come from the COST-327 helmet study “Motorcycle Safety Helmet Test Procedures – Interim Report Manuscript” in February 1998.
From the Icon press release: “The Icon Airframe Statistic is testament to the engineering, design, and execution that Icon has pioneered for over a decade.
To showcase this attention to detail, the Airframe Statistic’s tri-composite shell features a black construct finish. This treatment peers into the very structure of the helmet, and is unique to each piece.
Helmet safety standards for the helmet include DOT FMVSS 218 (US), ECE 22-05 (Europe), SAI AS1698 (Australia) and SG (Japan) safety and testing standards. Does not ship with SAI or SG certification stickers unless purchased from an authorized dealer in that country.
The helmet shell is made from a Fiberglass/Dyneema/Carbon fiber composite. Fit is the “Medium Oval Headform”.
Features include wind tunnel tested and refined, multiple oversized intake and exhaust ports, removable breath deflector, quick-change fog-free Proshield, removable/washable HydraDry interior, rear spoiler for reduced helmet buffeting, Prolock secure shield locking system, removable chin curtain.
Price: $390.00 (USD). Sizes: XS to 3XL. Shell Size Range: Unknown.
