A Long Name, A Large Price Tag
The 2021 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP is Honda’s sharp end of the stick. It’s the most impressive sportbike from the company in quite a while. With that said, I was expecting the price tag to be pretty dang high, and, guess what? It is. Honda has slapped a price tag of $28,000 on the bike, according to RideApart.
It’s unclear if Honda has put such a high price tag on the bike as retribution for all the pirate jokes I’ve made over the last few months, but if that is the case, I apologize. The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP should be a seriously impressive machine. The motorcycle gets a 999cc inline four-cylinder engine that Honda used a lot of aluminum and titanium to make the engine lighter weight and spin more freely.
The motorcycle also gets plenty of great technology, including Honda Smart Key, quick shifter, throttle-by-wire, selectable torque control, Akrapovic titanium exhaust, and aerodynamic winglets. All of that stuff is standard on the bike. The motorcycle also gets some Öhlins smart suspension and Brembo brakes. In short, it’s a bike that any lover of high-speed things will want. But the question is, will they want to pay for it?
Oh, yes. They’ll sell loads of those, I’m sure. At this price they’ll be flying out the factorahahahahah…..
Ducati sells loads of Panigales and those are pricey, too. I think this bike is expensive AF and I wouldn’t buy one at this price, but I have no doubt some folks will. It’s all a question of if Honda can sell as many as they want to.
215 horse power and 443 lbs…. Holy balls. That’s 80lbs lighter than a Kawasaki H2.
Charles,
This will be a killer bike for Honda, no doubt about it.
Absolutely. It’s a Honda, and they make good…well, everything, really. Now, about that proposed price tag, lads…
The Honda company makes good products, be these cars or motorcycles. The quality and reputation are not in question here. It is the marketting strategy and therefore the pricing.
One would have thought that perhaps a more long term and balanced approach could have been to peg the ‘ ride away ‘ price at just below the average investment of the competitors of other brands like Kawasaki 10 RR, Suzuki 1000, Yamaha, models all at the Top 1000 c.c range. After the sales pick up, then slowly raise the prices. Make it a brand and model that many riders would want before excluding potential buyers just based on the price.
Anyway what would I know ? Let the Big Guns in Honda with their Big salaries decide what is good for the company.
