Gel Lube is a new product. It’s actually not a dedicated motorcycle chain lube, but rather an “all-around lubricant”, according to the label.

It sprays out as a thick liquid and turns into a sort of gel, like dried jam — strawberry!

The label says that it will penetrate, but we’re not sure.

Advertisements for this product are starting to show up in motorcycle magazines; which is how we became aware of it and we decided to include it in this comparison.

The label says it can be used for things like valve springs, cams, lifters, wrist pins, sliding parts and more, as a general lubricant or assembly lube. It actually works pretty well on garage door rollers…

But it’s very expensive, at $13.95 for a 227 gram (8 oz.) can, which makes it about $0.06 per gram.

This is more than three times as expensive than our favorite chain lube in this comparison. This alone pretty much knocks it out of contention as a reasonable motorcycle chain lube.

If it had some super redeeming properties, perhaps the cost could be justified. But it also seems to leave a lot of lube on the chain that can attract dust and dirt.

There are just too many other chain lubes available that work better than this one, so other than the novelty, it’s difficult to recommend Gel Lube for motorcycle use.
