Forever Black is a black dye and it is available as the “Bumper & Trim Cleaner & Reconditioner” shown here in addition to a “Tire Gel” and “Truck Bed Liner Gel”.

It is actually a dye, not one of those “bumper black” products like Armor All or Black Again.  As such, it doesn’t seem to work as well on mildly oxidized black surfaces; in fact, we found it to be rather cumbersome to use on those types.

And since we don’t have any rubber or vinyl surfaces that need complete reconditioning, it’s hard to come to a conclusion on this product.

But we purchased it under the assumption that it was a better product for keeping black trim looking fresh than some of the other, more generic, off-the-shelf “bumper black” products.

The Forever Black kit comes with a 4 oz. bottle of cleaner concentrate that makes one gallon of cleaner.  The instructions call for the surface to be cleaned prior to the application of the Forever Black dye.

The dye comes in a 4 oz. bottle, which is a bit misleading, because the product is advertised at 8 oz., but we assume they are counting the 4 oz. of cleaner and 4 oz. of dye.

The dye bottle has a foam applicator on top.  The product comes out as a watery liquid, and it doesn’t seem to have a very shiny surface, nor did it leave a “slippery” feeling or a coated feeling to the black vinyl or plastic surfaces we treated.

It takes what we think is a significantly long time to dry; up to 1/2 hour, depending upon the porosity of the surface.  On mildly oxidized black surfaces, it just didn’t seem to make much difference, although some users report excellent success when using the product on highly oxidized black vinyl.

In the end, for us, Forever Black wasn’t really worth the trouble for general motorcycle use.

We still think the Black Again product is highly useful and works very well on mildly oxidized black vinyl surfaces on motorcycles, and it remains our favorite after many years of use.
