It’s Official
I’ve reported before on Forcite and said that it will come to the U.S. at some point in the future, but now some information from Digital Trends indicates that the smart helmet will come to the U.S. soon. According to the publication, the helmet will come to the States in 2020.
For the uninitiated, Forcite is a smart helmet that uses a variety of advanced technology to help the rider get the information he or she needs while out on the road. It uses a unique LED alert system as well as video cameras, Bluetooth comm system and more. The helmet will alert you of road hazards, send you navigation instructions, and alert you of construction and road hazards.
The audio system in the helmet is also supposed to block road noise during phone calls, allow for music streaming, and allow for you to communicate with other riders wearing MK1 helmets. The helmet itself features a carbon fiber shell and an EPS layer. It is both DOT and ECE approved.
Forcite has been able to avoid some of the pitfalls that have caused other smart helmet makers to stumble. It should also be less expensive than the other advanced smart helmets out there. Pricing has not yet been confirmed, but the company thinks it’ll be under $1,000. That’s great for what you’re getting. Forcite will be at EICMA and Jim should have some time to meet up with them for a demo. We’ll have more for you at a later date.
