Yes, Ducati, Bring Us the Superlight

There were rumors floating around that Ducati was working on a Superleggera version of the Panigale V4, and now Claudio Domenicali has confirmed it. The CEO told Motorcycle News that the Superleggera version of the bike would be coming soon.

Specifically, he said: “There will be a special edition of the V4 with the same name as previous special editions,” he said. The whole with the same name as previous special editions just means that it will be a Superleggera. That is what previous special editions were called.

Superleggera means superlight, so the bike will be lighter and faster. Motorcycle News says that the motorcycle could redefine the horsepower race among sportbike manufacturers.

Domenicali didn’t give tons of details about the motorcycle but he did say that the bike would be a seriously special machine. “It will be seen in the new year and it will be very dramatic. It will be a 500 limited edition, it will be quite expensive but it will be very dramatic in terms of what is on the bike. I think it will be surprising,” he said.

Motorcycle News has a lot of spy shots and images if you want to see what the bike looks like. It’s definitely a Panigale and definitely been altered but we don’t really know much about how at this point.
