BMW’s Naked Roadster: The 2021 BMW S 1000 R
Contents
The S 1000 R is a super-naked sportbike that is virtually all-new for this year, making it one of the most heavily updated models in the entire 2021 BMW line-up. This European-made naked machine is an unfaired powerhouse, with an attitude that toes the line between practical roadster and supersports riding perfectly.
For 2021, the S 1000 R has received a number of exciting updates. The most obvious of these include a redesigned chassis that significantly reduces the bike’s overall weight and new aesthetics that give the S 1000 R a more aggressive street-ready look.
The S 1000 R is powered by a retuned version of the S 1000 RR’s mighty 9,99cc inline-four engine. The power is rated at 165 horses and 84 lb-ft of peak torque. For 2021, the S 1000 R enjoys new gear ratios for improved torque and a quiet and smoother operation. Two riding modes come as standard, along with ABS and ASC (that can both be disengaged), an anti-hopping clutch, a drop sensor, LED lights, and an HP titanium slip-on exhaust.
Optional extras include Ride Modes Pro (with ABS Pro, Launch Control, and Pit Lane Limiter), and Gear Shift Assist Pro for dynamic and effortless shifting.
For 2021, the S 1000 R is available in three color options: Black Storm Metallic, San Marino Blue, and BMW Motorrad’s Light White/Lupin Blue Metallic/Racing Red tricolor.
The 2021 BMW S 1000 R starts at $14,995 USD / $16,500 CAD.
