The Future of Charging?

One of the biggest issues with electric bikes is charging the batteries. There’s not always the infrastructure to make that possible. Startup Batt:RE has a unique solution. It wants to do a peer-to-peer network for charging. The RE:Charge stations will be stations that regular folks have installed and are open to the public. This allows them to earn a little passive side income.

Batt:RE plans to add 500 charging stations to the national network in India by March of 2021, according to RideApart. That’s a pretty ambitious goal, but then it makes sense if people are going to be earning passive income off these stations.

The chargers work with any vehicle, including scooters, e-bikes, e-motorcycles, and more. To access the chargers, you’ll need the Batt:RE app. The app will help you located the nearest charger and then you scan a QR code when you arrive. That begins charging and payments are handled through Unified Payments Interface, which is India’s most popular cashless payments application.

Interested parties in India will have to pay for the charging station to be put in, but once it is put in place, then they will begin to earn money, so it is an investment for them. It will be interesting if Batt:RE can meet its goal.
