The Naked Bike From Noale: 2020 Aprilia Shiver 900
Contents
Aprilia’s street smart Shiver 900 returns for 2020, bringing a touch of everyday sensibility to their 900cc range. Though it styles itself as a naked-sport machine, the Shiver 900 actually takes more of its styling cues from the supermoto world. In fact, the Shiver 900 is almost identical to the supermoto-focused Dorsoduro 900, but while they share DNA, they’re entirely different beasts.
The 2020 Aprilia Shiver 900 is powered by Aprilia’s latest slim-line, longitudinally-mounted 90-degree V-twin engine. This gutsy twin-cylinder is capable of producing 93 horsepower at 8,750 rpm, and 66 lb-ft of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. That power is channelled using a Ride-by-Wire throttle system connected to a Marelli 7SM ECU, with three selectable engine maps.
The powerful engine is twinned with a lightweight chassis that provides nimble handling—ideal for track riding or navigating busy city streets. The frame is made from steel tubing with a Trellis upper section. Up front, adjustable Kiyaba forks provide the suspension, while an adjustable Sachs monoshock and aluminum alloy swingarm provide the damping at the rear. Cast aluminum wheels and disc brakes complete the rolling chassis.
In terms of electronics, the new Shiver 900 doesn’t go without. Aprilia has treated the Shiver with the brand’s own traction control system, with ABS too. Both modes are selectable and can be deactivated if necessary.
The 2020 Aprilia Shiver 900 is available in a black finish with red accents, with prices starting from $9,399.
