The Off-Roading Bullet: Royal Enfield Bullet Trials 500
Contents
Design and manufactured as an homage to the classic 350cc trials Bullet from 1948, the new Bullet Trials 500 celebrates Royal-Enfield’s pioneering days from the mid-20th century. The original trials model was the world’s first production bike to feature a swinging arm suspension, and it went on to win championships, bringing Royal Enfield victory in the acclaimed International Six Days Trials. This modern replica captures the spirit of those glory days with unabashed enthusiasm.
On paper, the specifications of the Bullet Trials 500 aren’t particularly different from the regular Bullet 500. They both feature the same Royal Enfield 499cc single-cylinder thumper engine, which is capable of producing 27.2 horsepower and 30.5 lb-ft of peak torque, and the updated hardware in the form of electronic fuel-injection technology, ABS, and disc brakes.
What separates the two is the addition of old-school trials-inspired accoutrements. The Trials model features raised handlebars with a reinforced steel crossbar, which gives riders a more commanding riding position whether standing or sitting, boosting comfort and control. There’s also an upswept exhaust, purpose-built mudguards, and off-road focused block-tread dual-sport tires. Since trials-riding is the priority here, the Bullet Trials 500 is only available with a single-seat as standard.
The 2020 Royal Enfield Bullet Trials 500 is available in Bullet Trials Works Replica 500 Red or Green color schemes, with a prices starting from $5,799.
