SW-Motech Guards and Protectors

Protecting the Rear Master Cylinder Reservoir and Exhaust Valve on the 2014 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 ABS

It’s questionable whether or not you need a brake reservoir protector and exhaust valve guard on the 2014 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 ABS.

But one thing’s for sure: they look cool!

And, since they’re made by SW-Motech, the parts are super quality and come with easily understandable instructions.

Actually, the complex exhaust valve on the V-Strom could use some protection, because it wouldn’t take much to rip the thing off its mount, even on a mildly off-road trail.

There’s not much to say about these parts: they appear to be either laser or water jet cut and bent to size on a precision CNC press.

They’re made from brushed aluminum and the brake reservoir cover comes with a single stainless steel Allen screw to replace the stock screw that holds the plastic reservoir on the bike.

The exhaust valve probably does need protecting and the SW-Motech guard bolts on using the existing stock screws. Installation is easy as pie and takes probably all of about 2 minutes.

Not much more to say, so here are a few pics:

Conclusion

They look great and hopefully will do the job. Are they really necessary? Debatable… But what the heck — dual-sport bikes are all about farkling, right?
