Castrol Chain Wax
Quick Look
Castrol Chain Wax is a synthetic motorcycle chain lube that sprays on as a mildly thick wax. It dries hard and leaves a coating. We weren’t able to determine if it penetrates the chain or side plates any better or worse than other lubricants.
The sprayer is nicely focused and the product can be applied without much overspray, so the efficiency of the delivery mechanism is fairly high.
That means that Castrol Chain Wax is good value for the money because it puts the product on the chain without a lot of waste.
Once it sets on the chain, it has good cling properties, so there is little to no fling off.
We found that it’s best to use this product on a warm (but not too hot) chain for best penetration.
Castrol Chain Wax can be relatively expensive — it’s more than twice the cost per unit than our least expensive (and favorite) chain lube of this batch.
Conclusion
If you like a relatively thick chain lube spray, this is a good one. It’s fairly easy to find at motorcycle shops.
