The 2021 Suzuki GSX-R1000R is the Pinnacle of the GSX-R Lineup
Contents
The 2021 Suzuki GSX-R1000R sits atop the throne as the most powerful supersport motorcycle Suzuki produces in its GSX-R lineup. The bike dwarfs its younger brother, the GSX-R750, producing an extra 50 horsepower taking the liquid cooled, inline-four, 1000cc motor to 199 total horsepower (with 87 lb-ft of torque). It’s the pinnacle of Suzuki’s 2021 lineup.
With Suzuki using this motorcycle as a blueprint to build their 1000cc GSX-RR MotoGP bike, performance is one of the top priorities weaved into the design of the GSX-R1000R. Not only does their MotoGP bike use this model as a foundation for construction, but the relationship between the two bikes works inversely with lots of tech being developed for the MotoGP bike finding its way to this motorcycle such as the MotoGP-inspired, aerodynamic bodywork.
Some notable additions to this bike, when compared to the rest of the GSX-R lineup, is a quickshifter to assist with banging through gears provided by the 6-speed constant mesh transmission, Brembo brake package, and a titanium exhaust system.
This year, Suzuki Motorcycles is celebrating 100 years of manufacturing as well as 60 years of racing, a crowning achievement for this Japanese company. Unlike last year’s 2020 version, they have decided to give their entire GSX-R line up a beautiful Metallic Triton Blue, Metallic Mystic Silver livery as a nod to their current MotoGP motorcycles as well as a tribute to their race bikes of the 60s.
