The 2021 Royal Enfield Bullet 500 Trials is a Versatile Beauty

The 2021 Royal Enfield Bullet 500 Trials is a bit of a special bike. It encapsulates the history and pedigree of the British manufacturer’s racing history, where during the middle of the 20th century, endurance events known as “trials” were held. The original Bullet 350 Trials of the time won multiple racesand was the first production bike to feature a rear swingarm, an invention that reduced the stresses on the bike during off road running, allowing it to not shake itself to pieces like solid rear wheel bikes did.

The motorcycle itself is a standard Bullet 500, with the same 499cc single-cylinder that pushes out the same 27.2 BHP and 30.5 lbs-ft of crank torque. What separates the two bikes, however, is the styling and specification of the bike’s body. The handlebars are braced and reinforced with a steel crossbar, the suspension has longer travel than the standard Bullet, and the exhaust is upswept and out of the way in a distinctly scrambler-esque design.

Chunky, knobbly tires are standards, speaking to the off-road heritage of the Trials name. A headlight cage protects the glass from rocks and branches, and bigger mud-guards prevent the ride from receiving a face full of dirt or a back coated in mud. The pegs are reinforced as well, to give the rider the ability to stand on the pegs on particularly rough sections of road, be they pavement, dirt, gravel, or non-existent. It’s a worthy addition to the 2021 lineup.

The 2021 Royal Enfield Bullet 500 Trials starts at $5,799 USD / $7,599 CAD.
