The Budget Dual-Sport Enduro Option: The Royal Enfield Himalayan
Contents
Royal Enfield’s revolutionary dual-sport, desert-crossing, mountain-climbing, adventure machine has been one of the most talked about motorcycles in recent years. Aptly named the “Himalayan,” this adventure motorcycle is built with rugged terrain and tough trails in mind. It’s simple in nature, but incredibly competent, and it’s that simplistic nature that you really need when you’re out in the middle of nowhere, and Royal Enfield knows it.
The beating heart of the Himalayan is an all-new unit, rather than a borrowed lump from the Bullet or Classic models. It uses a very simple 411cc fuel-injected, air-cooled, single-cylinder thumper that produces 25 horsepower and 25.6 lb-ft of peak torque. These don’t read like high-performance figures, but they’re more than enough for true trail riding, with the grunt delivered in the low revs to get you over, under, around, and through, any obstacles in front of you.
The Harris Performance-designed frame holds the engine in place, working with sturdy telescopic front forks and a hydraulic monoshock at the rear, provides the Himalayan with 220mm of ground clearance. Braking duties are handled by front and rear disc brakes with ABS. The front features a 21 inch spoked wheel paired with a 17 inch spoked rear wheel, both shod with knobbly tires for improved traction.
Overall, the Himalayan is styled to be a practical dual-sport enduro machine, with adequate space for bolt-on luggage and other adventure accessories. It’s the budget adventure motorcycle that we all want, and amazingly, can all afford.
The 2020 Royal Enfield Himalayan is available in three color schemes, Snow, Granite, and Sleet, all with ABS. All three have prices starting from $4,749.00.

“No matter how bad your day is your bike
Will always make you feel better”
Royal Enfield “himalayan” is my dream bike,
I dreamed everyday like I drive a long ride with himalayan….
The one they owned himalayan,of course they are luckiest guys ever…..!!!!
one day i have……i am waiting for it.
I am riding Himalayan from last 4 years. I am a tour operator providing motorcycle tours in Himalayas. Personally I ride it many times a year and every year to Ladakh. Though I didn’t face any major problem but I have heard many stories of its broken into two pieces. I think company still need to improve its build quality as a offroad bike.
