The Ultimate Urban Ride: The 2020 KTM 390 Duke
Contents
KTM’s legendary small-capacity naked motorcycle, the 390 Duke, is back for 2020. Regarded by many as one of the best and most versatile urban-focused motorcycles, the Duke 390 offers serious grunt, nimble handling, in a manageable package that can be enjoyed by beginner riders and seasoned hands in equal measure.
The secret to the 390 Duke’s success is the combination of punchy power and responsive manoeuvrability. Powered by a compact 373cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine, the KTM 390 Duke is capable of producing an adrenaline-inducing 43.5 horsepower and 27 lb-ft of peak torque. It has the power, but when it’s channelled through a lightweight and agile chassis it’s a fearsome package.
To keep practical and to make the Duke as versatile and usable as possible, KTM has treated it with a number of thoughtful add-ons. There’s a slipper clutch for confidence-inspiring and performance-raising gear changes. Ride-by-wire technology is included for responsive throttle control and smooth acceleration. Finally, the KTM 390 Duke also features dual-channel Bosch ABS. Also equipped with a TFT display and LED lighting, the 390 Duke is a practical and aggressive motorcycle that can tackle any situation.
The 2020 model of the KTM 390 Duke is available in two color schemes: classic KTM Orange, or a more subdued White. As for the price, the MSRP is an attractive and affordable $5,499.
