The Honda Monkey has become one of the most famous models in the Honda line-up. Ever since the original Z100 first rolled onto the scene in 1961 it has evolved into an icon. While the original Monkey line was discontinued in 2017, a new breed of Monkey emerged in 2019. For 2020, Honda has updated their new Monkey with new colors.
There’s no mechanical updates for the coolest little mini bike on the block. The Monkey still uses the same fuel-injected 125cc single-cylinder engine that’s also found on the cult-classic Honda Grom, capable of delivering 9 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 8.1 lb-ft of peak torque at 5,250 rpm. In terms of performance, the specs aren’t the best but what the Monkey lacks in performance it makes up for in fun.
Equipped with an inverted front fork, modern LCD instrumentation, LED lighting, and the option of an inertial measurement unit (IMU) controlled ABS system, the Honda Monkey is more than just a nostalgic reboot, and more of a modern icon in its own right.
The ABS version is only available in Pearl Nebula Red, but if you’re willing to forgo ABS, you have a choice of two colors for 2020: Pearl Nebula Red or Pearl Glittering Blue. No matter the color, the Honda Monkey is an awesome urban runaround for those looking for bucket loads of fun in a small but cool package.
