The 2015 Kawasaki Versys Gets an “LT” Makeover
The Kawasaki Versys (review) has its fans…and just as many detractors.
More than anything else, the styling created this dichotomy.
Well, that should no longer be a problem.
The 2015 Versys looks like a sharp, modern adventure-touring bike in the current faux AT style that’s in vogue.
Both the 1000 cc and 650 cc Versys get the makeover and they’re now called the Versys 1000 LT and Versys 650 LT (although the 650 is also available as the Versys 650 ABS base model without luggage).
The LT versions come with nice color-matched luggage and all versions come with ABS but prices and final specifications are yet to be determined.
We bet both of these Versys LTs have that special Kawasaki secret sauce also and it sure would be nice to ride one…or both.
My lesson learned with the 2014 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 ABS (Blog) is that one liter is overkill, so if I had a choice, I’d take the Versys 650. Besides, the exhaust on the 650 is way cooler than on the 1000.
The 650 comes in “Pearl Stardust White” or “Candy Lime Green”, while the 1000 is available in “Metallic Spark Black” or “Candy Burnt Orange”.
UPDATE: 2015 pricing has been announced (U.S.A.): $7,999.00 for the base Versys 650; $8,699.00 for the Versys LT with bags and $12,799.00 for the Versys 1000.
Our local Kawasaki dealer, JT Motorsports in Frederick, Maryland, said the Versys 1000 is due in January; the Versys 650 in November and the Versys 650 LT in February.
Not much more is known, but here are a few pics with spec sheets below that.

From “N” (October 2014): “I really think Kawasaki went in the right direction with the Versys. The styling actually reminds me of an updated Tiger 1050 in a way, and I mean that in the best way possible.
I do wish they’d drop the “adventure touring” moniker from these bikes because that really doesn’t do justice to how good bikes like this are as street touring and commuting bikes. Love it!”
Editor’s Note: Kawasaki lists the Versys in both their “Touring” and “Sport” categories, not their dual-sport category. Kawasaki doesn’t have an “Adventure Touring” listing for their bikes.
